What do I need to bring with me when staying in vacation rentals in the Orlando Florida area?

We get asked this a lot!  So much so that we added this to our FAQ.  The simple answer is to think of Orlando vacation rental homes like a hotel.  And, legally, it is a hotel registered with the state of Florida!
So, no need to bring linens, towels, pillows, etc.  But, unlike a hotel, vacation rentals in the Orlando Florida area come with a fully stocked kitchen!

Fully stocked kitchen!

We have found, however, that unlike staying at a friend’s home, the tradition of vacation rentals in the Orlando Florida area is to leave the home free of excess soap, toilet paper, laundry soap, dishwasher detergent, etc., so you may need to buy these items on your first grocery shopping trip.  We are trying to change this tradition, at least for our American guests who seem to expect some of this left behind by the previous guest, but we risk annoying our European guests who have been renting homes for a much longer time and are used to a more “sterile” environment upon their arrival.
So, leave your sheets, towels and pillow behind when heading to vacation rentals in the Orlando Florida area, but bring your bathing suit and your sense of adventure!  We have lots of fun waiting for you!

When searching for holiday villas in Orlando and Kissimmee how do I find the right property?

Good question!  The good news is that with a bit of work and research you can find just the right Orlando vacation rental home for you and your family!   First, you want to think of how many individuals will be in your party and what their ages are.  Holiday villas in Orlando and Kissimmee can accommodate a max of two per bedroom plus two more on a sleeper sofa.  So, a four bedroom will max out at 10 people (if a sleeper sofa is available).
Secondly, look at the home’s proximity to where you plan on spending your days.  Some holiday villas in Orlando and Kissimmee are close to Disney, others are close to I-4 which can get you to the beaches quickly.  Others are close to golfing, such as Champions Gate.
Third, look at the features of the Orlando vacation rental home itself.  Do you want a pool?  A spa? A games room for the kids?

A pool in the sun or the shade?  A safe neighborhood for biking and walking?  A children’s playground nearby?  If you can prioritize your needs and wants you can quickly narrow down websites offering holiday villas in Orlando and Kissimmee to a more manageable number.  Then call the management company and finalize your vacation of a lifetime!  Good hunting!

Why you should book your Disney area vacation home rental separately from the rest of your vacation!

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World and the other Orlando attractions?  While it might be tempting to purchase an all inclusive package of tickets, transportation and lodging, you may want to think again!
While tour operators CAN offer decent discounts by bundling disparate services together, you are taking a chance on what you are really getting.   For instance, you might be promised a “five bedroom Disney area vacation home rental”, but do you know the condition of the home?  The neighborhood?  How well the home is maintained?  Of course not.  And neither do the people who sold you the package.  In fact, when they sold you the package, they didn’t even know yet what home they were going to put you in.

You see, the tour operators do not maintain all of the homes they bundle with your package.  They find Disney area vacation home rentals maintained by companies like OurFloridaConcierge  to complete the package.  And there is the rub.  Not all companies are created equal, nor is their stewardship of the Disney area vacation homes under their purview.
In fact, we have had vacationers staying next to the very ones that we maintain ask us if we had any homes available that they could move into.  Immediately.  Why?  Because the Disney area vacation rental home they were put into was not properly maintained.  Or cleaned.  Or otherwise suitable for their needs.
A far better way to plan your vacation is to book your travel tickets and your accommodations separately.  Ask to talk to the owner of the property management company.  Look at pictures of the property and ask if they are current.  Watch the video walkthroughs of the property to make sure the accommodations are acceptable.  And take a look at the information on the Disney area vacation home rental community.  You’ll be glad you did!  And surely you’ll sleep better!
